Dubai Opera is the city's main opera and concert hall, in The Opera District of Downtown, right at the foot of Burj Khalifa. The building is shaped like a traditional Arabian dhow and seats around 2,000. The venue transforms between formats: a classical theatre, a flat floor for banquets and a concert stage. It hosts operas, ballets, musicals, symphony concerts and popular acts from around the world.
Beyond the main performances, the building holds restaurants, cafés and terraces overlooking the Dubai Fountain and Burj Khalifa. Its architecture and location make Dubai Opera one of Downtown's landmarks, worth seeing even if you are not attending a show. The programme is international and changes regularly, so check the schedule in advance. The area around the theatre is landscaped for walking and photographs.
Tip: Book tickets online in advance and arrive an hour early to walk the Opera District with its view of Burj Khalifa and the fountains.
