Description
The Green Planet is an indoor biodome in the modern City Walk district, inside which a genuine tropical rainforest has been recreated. At the centre of the dome stands a huge artificial "tree of life", with walking levels arranged around it from the forest floor up to the canopy. More than three thousand species of plants, birds, reptiles, fish and mammals live here.
It is a zoo, a botanical garden and an education centre at once: visitors move through the different forest tiers watching sloths, parrots, bats and the inhabitants of the water pools. Animal feedings and interactive programmes for children run regularly. Because everything sits under a climate-controlled dome, it is an excellent choice on hot summer days.
Tip: Work your way up through the levels — the route is designed to run from the forest floor to the treetops.
