Dubai from above — district by district

Dubai-Maps is a non-commercial guide to Dubai that combines a satellite map of the city with clear descriptions of its districts, points of interest and practical articles.

How it all began

The project grew out of a simple passion — looking at Dubai from a satellite. The artificial palm island, the neat blocks of the new districts, the contrast between the old town by the creek and the forest of skyscrapers along the coast all look from above like a giant map you could study for hours.

Over time came the wish to gather everything in one place: which district is where, what is interesting in it, how to get there and what to see nearby. That is how Dubai-Maps came about — a guide where every place has exact coordinates, a satellite image and a short but honest description.

What’s inside

We have broken the city down into clear parts. The “Districts” and “Locations” sections are a catalogue of places on the map, with descriptions of infrastructure, transport access and answers to common questions. The “Articles” section helps you plan a trip: observation decks, transport, seasons and routes.

How we work with data

Satellite imagery and base mapping are provided by external mapping services. On top of them we add the structure: the breakdown into districts, location coordinates, descriptions and tips. The information is rechecked periodically and updated as the city changes.

Our principles

1

Map first

Every district and every location is tied to exact coordinates and a satellite image. First you see the place from above — then you read about it.

2

Useful only

No advertising and no sales. We write what genuinely helps: how to get there, what’s nearby, when to go and what to look out for.

3

Clear and easy to follow

Names, descriptions and tips come with familiar transliteration and explanations, so finding your way is easy.

4

A living project

The list of districts, locations and articles keeps growing. We add new places and update information as things change in the city.
