Consulate General of Iran

The Consulate General provides consular services to citizens of Iran, including issuing and renewing passports, registering civil status records (births, marriages), and the legalization and certification of documents, and it also accepts visa applications from foreigners wishing to visit Iran. The consulate operates by prior appointment and is closed on local and Iranian public holidays; note that weekends in the Iranian calendar differ from the usual ones, which affects reception days and timelines. For a trip to Iran, it is most convenient for tourists and residents of the UAE to start with the electronic system: the application is submitted online through the official evisa.mfa.ir portal, where after registration a reference code (authorization code) is issued. With this code, a valid international passport (valid for at least 6 months), photographs, and a completed application form, the applicant then approaches the consulate to have the visa affixed; some applicants may require an interview.
