Amer service centres process GDRFA visas and government services, helping residents and visitors with residence and entry visas without going to the main directorate.

More

Amer is a network of authorised service centres run under GDRFA, through which Dubai residents and visitors handle visa and residency services on a one-stop-shop basis. People come here when they need to apply for a new residence visa or renew one, arrange a sponsorship visa for the family, cancel a visa when changing jobs or leaving, obtain an exit visa, extend a tourist visa, and also to get help with a Golden Visa application. The centres are convenient for those who do not want to deal with the portals themselves: staff will check the documents, fill in the application and process the government fees — this is especially useful in non-standard situations.

Some Amer services are available remotely — through the centres' websites, by phone and via a document-delivery service — but many procedures are still more convenient to do in person, especially when originals must be submitted. Bring your passport, Emirates ID (if available), photographs and the documents for the specific service (employment contract, marriage certificate, certificates, etc.). Amer centres are located all over Dubai, including at large shopping and business complexes, and usually operate by ticket on a first-come, first-served basis. Note that a service fee is charged for Amer services on top of the government fees.

Working hours and services may change — check the official website or call the institution.

Frequently asked questions

What can be done at an Amer center?+

Amer are GDRFA service centers: issuing and extending residence visas, entry permits, status checks, family sponsorship and related Emirates ID services. Staff help you complete and submit the application.

Is an appointment needed at Amer in advance?+

Many Amer centers operate on a walk-in basis, but it is more convenient to check the hours and, if needed, book an appointment, especially for VIP/premium lounges. Many services can also be done without a visit via the GDRFA Dubai or Dubai Now apps.

What is the difference between Amer and GDRFA?+

GDRFA is the government authority itself; Amer are authorized service centers where the same visa services are provided through staff. In short, GDRFA is an authority, while Amer is a service point.
