The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFAIC) in Dubai handles the legalisation (attestation) of official documents — the final stage after which foreign or local documents are recognised as valid in the UAE or abroad. People come here to attest diplomas and educational certificates, birth and marriage certificates, powers of attorney and affidavits, as well as commercial documents — contracts and trade licences. This is a necessary step when taking up employment, sponsoring family, enrolling in education, opening a business and in other situations requiring legally recognised documents.

Attestation is performed online through the MOFAIC app and portal (mofa.gov.ae): the document is uploaded, the fee is paid and the status is tracked, while for documents already located in the UAE digital attestation is available without a visit. It is important to remember that MOFA attestation is usually the last stage: foreign documents must first be attested in the country of issue and at the UAE embassy. When processing, prepare the original document and proof of previous attestations; the fee depends on the type of document. The Dubai office is located in the Bur Dubai area, and applications are also handled through service centres.
